Our Method

To allow, in a CCUS perspective, a physical tracking and certification of captured CO2, by chemical tagging

Our Method

OUR METHOD OF CHEMICAL MARKING OF CAPTURED CO2 LOTS COVERS ALL STAGES OF THE CO2 TRANSPORT CHAIN, BOTH FOR ITS STORAGE AND FOR ITS UTILIZATION AS A RESOURCE…

This solution is particularly well-suited to discontinuous transport operations, such as those carried out by truck or rail.

Our method consists in two phases: chemical tagging after the industrial capture of CO2 and its traceability throughout the transport to the destination (storage or utilization).

step 1 : Tagging

The process consists in following the CO2 flows by identified batches thanks to the injection of an original chemical marker.

Each marker is made of a mixture of chemically neutral gases characterized by a ratio of several gases. Each batch is unique and identifiable throughout the transport chain.

The choice of marker gases, their nature, the quantity injected, depends on the scenario concerned (origin, destination, volume, route, volume, regulations, transport time, economic elements, etc.).

Step 2 : Tracking

After the marking, the traceability system allows to attach to each of the batches characterization information (origin and destination, physico-chemical elements, owner and stakeholders, administrative, quality conformity, volume, …). A system architecture using the blockchain must allow the enrichment of this information in a totally secure context.

The traceability allows the follow-up of assemblies and groupings of batches during transport (hubs and clusters) and of changes of transport vector (rail, road, ship or pipe).

The secured data attached to each batch will allow the certification by an office or an approved inspection and certification company.

Development stage

We are looking for industrial and financial partners to support the development of our process and bring it to the industrial stage.

Our patended process has been granted in the United States (2019) and in Europe (2022).
